Think you know fast cars? Try the Bristol Fighter Turbo. Over 1,000 bhp; over 1,000 ft lbs of torque. Potentially, the top speed is 270 mph ( electronically limited to 225 mph}. The 0 to 60 mph time is less than 3.5 seconds. Totally awesome, and it "only" costs £350,000 (about $530,000, but it is not available in the US).
Cynical Bastards; the "University of Bums on Seats, where we believe that nobody should be exempt from a university education".
Everything you ever wanted to know about Samuel Beckett. ".....he leaves no stone unturned and no maggot lonely. He brings forth a body of beauty. His work is beautiful" - Harold Pinter
A few museums and art galleries. The Victoria and Albert in London. The Frick Collection in New York City. The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, commonly known as The Clark, in Williamstown, MA.
Some varied and, I hope, entertaining links. Just getting started, there are lots more to come:
Huge collection of very reasonably priced lighting. More great lighting.
Space Weather. Everything you want to know about what is happening in space today; solar flares, sunspot activity, solar wind speed and intensity, close asteroid encounters. Fascinating.
The Quackometer. To quote them "The quackometer is a project based around the automation of debunking quack medicine on the web. The web is full of pages supporting dubious medical claims and inflated capabilities for cures. The freedom that the web gives us to express our views, entertain and do business also gives quacks a way to make a living by promoting nonsense treatments to unsuspecting people".
Jack of Kent. "A skeptical and liberal look at public debates and legal issues". Essentially UK oriented, but a treat!
Another UK based site is Bad Psychics. Although initially aimed at so-called "psychics", it has a good go at homeopathy and religion; so a great site for rationalists, but not a great site for "believers" of all persuasions!
Adventures in Nonsense. One man against pseudo science and pseudo medicine. Current target is the unsubstantiated and nonsensical claims of reflexologists. He also has an ongoing battle with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.
