William's Study
We had been using this room for storage after all of our stuff was moved up from the apartment. I had to move it all out before I could start. You will note yet another gorgeous color choice! My study was in somewhat better shape than Deborah's, so I had to replace very little of the plaster work. I closed off a door to a closet that had been shared with the master bedroom to give us more closet space in the master bedroom.
I refitted the closet so that I can keep some of my clothes there, freeing up closet space for Deborah in the master bedroom. I built a shoe rack, just inside the door on the right, to take some of my 40+ pairs of shoes. I like shoes. In addition, there are two clothes rails for some of my jackets, shirts and trousers.
This vintage wash basin was still in place, although it had long been disconected from the plumbing. I have removed it, but retained it for future sale! Any offers? Solid marble top with its' original back-splash and metal brackets.
Yet more windows being removed and replaced with modern equivalents. On removing the old ones, I discovered that there had been water leaks underneath the window sill for years. I had to remove and replace a lot of rotten wood, then seal it all up to make sure there was no more leaking.
I chose to paint the ceiling, and crown molding, in a pale gray rather than white. There is now a smart new light fixture. Finished pictures due soon!
In the picture to the right you can see where the plaster was damaged. Before we replaced the roof, there had been a long term leak that manifested itself here, and we found mushrooms growing on the surface of the plaster! Needless to say, this was all ripped out, and replaced with sheetrock.
