Bear Island Light, ME

The light was built in 1839, comprising a keeper's house with an integral wooden tower for the light. Despite the availability of Fresnel Lenses, due to cost they were not used in the US until 1841, so 13 inch reflectors were used in the Bear Island lighthouse.
