Visit:

Here are some homes that are in private hands, and not open to the public, together with some other buildings of interest.
This is one of our favorites; interesting without being too ostentatious.
Ocean Drive starts near the far end of Bellevue Avenue, and continues along the coast past Brenton Point State park.  It is home to a number of spectacular private homes, a few of which we show below.
These pictures were taken from the cliff walk, and are near Bellevue Avenue.  The houses have spectacular views of the ocean.  The last is a new summer house that is being built by one of the private owners.  The view will be as spectacular as the cost!
These three houses, plus the house to the right, are all on Bellevue Avenue.
This house is called "Hypotenuse", and it is where the architect Richard Morris Hunt lived.  He remodeled it between 1870 and 1871.  It is now a private residence.  These pictures date from 1969.  He designed a number of the Newport "cottages" including The Marble House, Breakers, Ochre Court and Belcourt.  He also designed the pedestal for the Statue of Liberty and the facade of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
