Stone Roses

I know they were gone by 1996, but they made some great music.  The first band to get four NME nominations in one year.  In 2006 their eponymous first album was voted the best British album of all time, again in the NME, and there is not a bad song on the album.  Due to contractual problems, their second album was much delayed, and they broke up soon after.
