House
Our c. 1860 House in Upstate New York.
For various reasons, we purchased a dilapidated c. 1860 house that we are trying to renovate on a limited budget. As well as an overview of what we bought, its setting, and our strategy for improving it, there is a room-by-room review of where we started, where we are, what we plan to do, and what we plan NOT to do! There are also pictures of the garden, of some of the critters that find their way into it, and of our pet cat, Mrs Moggie Miggins.
Music & Studio
The section is divided into three parts:
Firstly, brief excerpts in MP3 format from some of the electronic music tracks that I have produced in my modest home recording studio.
Then there is a description of the equipment that I use in the studio with several pictures, though this is probably only of interest to other musicians.
Finally, there is a selection of videos of music I enjoy. This was an ever evolving selection of current and historical tracks, but due to the restrictions effected by the music industry, many videos have been withdrawn. Thus, I do not intend to update the videos, and eventually I will probably remove it.

Family
Pictures of our families from the 1930s and 1940s up to today. This is unlikely to be of interest to anyone who does not know us.
Vacations
Do you really want to see our vacation pictures? Most are from trips that Deborah and I have taken together in the U.S., plus the cruise we took, with her parents, to the Mediterranean. There is also a section on the lighthouses we have visited on our travels.
Finally, a few series of photos from William's older vacations, when he was living in the UK, including a trip to Florence in 1981 and UK vacations from the 1960s.
Site Map
A text based, "one click gets you anywhere", index of the entire web-site; by topic, by page. I also highlight major changes and new additions to the site.
News & Information
Our latest news, sometimes some thoughts on the world around us, and information about the website with details of the latest changes made.
Physics
This section of the site reflects my interest in "physics". It is split into a number of evolving topics starting with Classical Mechanics and the 17th Century, through Relativity and Quantum Mechanics up to the Standard Model, Quantum Gravity and the latest insights into particle physics.
Not intended for experts, this is my attempt to describe how the world around us works, or may work, at the deepest levels. BUT; do remember that this is a science section, so there is no pseudo-science, creationism, intelligent design or mysticism!

Pseudo-Science
Debunking Pseudo-Science, Quackery, and Psychic Nonsense. I have very little tolerance for pseudo-scientific or mystical nonsense, and no tolerance at all for quack medicine which is potentially dangerous. If this offends you, please skip this section. In fact, you might want to avoid the science sections too!
Includes, for example, debunking of the utter nonsense that is homeopathy, chiropractic, astrology, creationism, intelligent design, psychic phenomena & 2012 "end-of-the-world" myths.
Solar Systems
A voyage through our Solar System from the Sun via the eight planets, to the Asteroid Belt, and on out to the Kuiper Belt & hypothetical Oort Cloud.
It also includes a section on some of the planetary systems that have been found around other stars, though we only mention a few of the more than 450 systems discovered so far.
Astronomy & Cosmology
This section of the site is all about the Universe; how it started, how it evolved, and where it could end, if it does. I discuss stars, galaxies, the great clusters and superclusters of galaxies, exotic objects like quasars and blazars and hypothetical subjects like cosmic topological defects.
Again, like the Physics section, this is not intended for experts; I just want to express my sense of wonder at the Universe around us and hope that some of it rubs off on others. BUT, as I said before, this is a section on science, so there is no pseudo-science, creationism, intelligent design or mysticism!

Biographies
So; Who Are We? Brief, VERY brief for Deborah, biographies so you have some idea of who we are. Deborah is New York born and bred, while William lived in England from a very young age. Initially, he lived in Birmingham and then moved to London in 1968. In 1996, William moved to New York City and they have both now retired to a small village in upstate New York.
As well as William, which I use now, I have been known as both Billy Hillyard (at a very early age) and Bill Hillyard (through my teens and twenties).
