2012 Myths

 
I have become increasingly irritated by the utter garbage being published about the impending doom of 2012.  Where is the science?  Where is the evidence?  How can scientists be covering up something that should be visible to the naked eye (planet Nibiru) if it exists?  This is far more ridiculous than the Y2K business; at least there was some possibility of difficulties arising there.  What we have are people (authors, website owners, movie studios) who are just making money out of gullibility.  The Skeptic's Dictionary does a very good debunking of the whole myth, with a particularly sensible denouncing of Zecharia Sitchin's idiocy.  David Morrison of NASA also does an excellent debunking job on his "ask an Astrobiologist" site.
